Our Time To Be Thankful

The story of thanksgiving history starts with the harvest celebration of the Pilgrims and the Indians that took place in the autumn of 1621. Although they did have a three-day feast in celebration of a good harvest, and the local indians did participate, this "first Thanksgiving" was not a holiday, simply a gathering. Thanksgiving can be traced back to 1863 when President Lincoln became the first president to proclaim Thanksgiving Day. The holiday has been a fixture of late November ever since.
We have been blessed as a nation and people. Let us be grateful for all that we have been given and remember those you are less fortunate. Wishing you and your family a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Tax Credit for Homebuyers

In case you haven't heard the great news, the government has extended the tax credit for first time home buyers. In a historic move they have also decided to include some current home owners in for a tax credit as well. If you have been considering a move up or sizing down or just want something new, call today at (859) 525-2624 and let me send you some homes for sale. There is no obligation and I would be happy to help you determine what your current home is worth at no charge.
First-Time Homebuyers (FTHBs): First-time homebuyers (that is, people who have not owned a home within the last three years) may be eligible for the tax credit. The credit for FTHBs is 10% of the purchase price of the home, with a maximum available credit of $8,000.
Single taxpayers and married couples filing a joint return may qualify for the full tax credit amount.

Current Owners: The tax credit program now gives those who already own a residence some additional reasons to move to a new home. This incentive comes in the form of a tax credit of up to $6,500 for qualified purchasers who have owned and occupied a primary residence for a period of five consecutive years during the last eight years.
Single taxpayers and married couples filing a joint return may qualify for the full tax credit amount.
In order to qualify for the credit, all contracts need to be in effect no later than April 30, 2010 and close no later than June 30, 2010.
